Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Despite its somewhat difficult political past, Uganda is nowadays a marvellous, peaceful country.

Some of its wildlife highlights include: Lake Victoria, Queen Elizabeth NP, and of course, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Bwindi offers one of the best wildlife experiences in the world, a truly unforgettable one: a close encounter with a family of Mountain Gorillas, one of the most critically endangered species in the world.

Mountain Gorillas only survive in the Virungas, a group of ex-volcanoes in the frontier between Uganda, Rwanda and Zaire. There are only 700 of these amazing animals still in the wild.

At Bwindi, only three Gorilla families have been habituated to contact with humans. Gorilla country is fairly mountainous terrain and sometimes a long, strenous trek will be required to see them. But every effort will be worth it.

Most of the year is good to go, except two short wet seasons, in May and November.
