15/12/00Ironically, my first truly wildlife destination was not Africa, the continent that had to become the destiny of so many of my subsequent trips, but South America: Patagonia, and Tierra del Fuego.
I only had a small pocket camera then and a rarely would take more than 10-15 pictures in any given day. Little I knew that nature photography was going to become a sort of obsession to me.
And best of all, it was our honeymoon... I still remember the face of my wife went we went to sleep in a minuscule mountain tent, in Torres del Paine!
Perito Moreno is not a truly wildlife destination. Peninsula Valdes and the Beagle Channel near Ushuaia are much better for wildlife. But the landscapes around Perito Moreno and Lago Argentino are simply breathtaking. One massive glacier after another, this is really nature at its best.
We went in December, during the Austral summer.
