28/02/09The Kalahari is a very surprising experience, as it is not the sandy dry land that we normally expect from a "desert". In fact, the Kalahari is called "the green desert", as there is plenty of grass, shrubs, and small trees.
However, it is a true desert, as there are no permanent water sources. In fact, some animal have develop very interesting adaptations to survive: for example, the famous balck-maned Kalahari lions have learned to obtain moisture from... eating watermelons! (surprising, isn't it?).
